Steps to Success for Headship

Head Teacher Induction Programme 

Intended Outcome for this programme:

To support new interim and substantive Head teachers working in Central Bedfordshire.

Selection process:

By invitation to new interim and substantive heads appointed in the past 1 to 2 terms (ie those appointed since the last programme)


Each event is held at the school of the Guest speaker and commences with a tour of the school. Following this there is an input by the Guest speaker and a facilitated session by an existing Head teacher.

The sessions include-

Establishing yourself as a Head teacher: Developing Vision and Values

The analysis and use of data

Leading Teaching and Learning

Developing Priorities through effective self-evaluation and school development planning

Appraisal and Performance-related pay: Holding challenging conversations

Monitoring and Evaluation: Sustaining Leadership Initiatives
