CPD and Training

BEST Teaching School has extensive experience of Continuous Professional Development (CPD), investing heavily in staff delivering and receiving professional development to and from schools across Central Bedfordshire and beyond. We offer high quality programmes for all phases and all school staff.

Via the Central Bedfordshire CPD Online System ( CBC schools and staff are always able to view an up-to-date event directory of all the courses & workshops that the Teaching School and its partners are offering. It enables staff who register on the site to receive alerts about events and training opportunities which match their needs & allows them to easily request a place on any training session listed. It allows schools to authorise (or not) the bookings their staff have requested, and gives CPD Leaders the opportunity to view the events that colleagues have attended/ booked on and print relevant reports.  Every person registered has access to ‘My CPD Online’ – a section that records all the training events they have attended.

Our trainers are expert, practising teachers/leaders drawn from our key strategic partners and across other Central Bedfordshire Schools, creating a team of accessible and credible school based trainers. Our training is usually very local and delivered in schools. We seek to be pro-active, understanding the needs of our local schools so that we are able to respond to that need in a considered way. Often we are able to develop bespoke training for your setting.

Bespoke CPD Events and more about Central Bedfordshire CPD Online

  • Open Courses/Events
  • Bespoke in-house training

BEST Teaching School offers an extensive range of CPD events at local venues where school staff have the opportunity to access high quality professional development and meet colleagues from across Central Bedfordshire and beyond. BEST Teaching School is also able to arrange for training to be delivered  in-house.

Open Courses/Events

BEST offers approximately 120 ‘open’ events each academic year.

To review what is currently on offer (and events that have taken place previously), go to and use the calendar on the right hand side, or use the search facility.

In order to request a place on any event, an account linked to a school included in our drop down lists is required. To create such an account click ‘new user’ on the left hand side. If the educational establishment that you work at is not included in the drop down lists you will need to e-mail to request assistance.

CPD Online gives those set up on the system as CPD Contacts the ability to check which staff members are booked to attend events and which have already been attended, as well as the certainty that no member of staff can book themselves to attend anything without the school having first authorised it.
